APRIL 21 , 2022 - PATCH NOTES:
Key Highlights:
- New Scenarios added to Franchise
- Increase to unlock percentage for Scouting
- Additional Goals added for Franchise Staff
- “Red Route” WR Screen issue addressed
- General Stability Fixes
- Fixed an issue with Play Art taking too long to update when flipping a play
- Fixed the Red Route WR Screen issue that was causing coverage defenders to crash and attack the QB as soon as he left the pocket.
- DEV NOTE: This issue was caused by logic that would have defenders break to defend a scrambling QB during a WR Screen play call. Now the defense will react appropriately and stay back in coverage when a Smoke Screen Hot Route is used on any passing play.
- Fixed a draft issue where users were unable to select a player on their turn for both solo and multiplayer Franchise leagues.
- Scouting Tuning:
- The General Scouting portion of scouting now provides a 10% unlock of information for prospects
- Increased the Tier Bonus for scouts:
- Tier 1 Scouts 2% > 5%
- Tier 2 Scouts 5% > 15%
- Tier 3 Scotus 10% > 25%
- Scenario Updates:
- X-Factor Hot Streak: The X-Factor Hot Streak scenario occurs when facing an X-Factor defender coming off a big game in the previous week. Depending on the position of the player, you will be tasked with slowing them down in different statistical categories and extinguishing the fire. To make matters more challenging, when this scenario occurs, the player will start the game with their X-Factor activated meaning you'll need to direct attention to them immediately or risk them wrecking your game early. But if you manage to keep them in check, you'll be able to earn rewards that can be anything from XP to temporary boosts as well as staff points.
- Team Turmoil: The Team Turmoil scenario emulates growing frustrations between a thriving offense and struggling defense. If you find yourself on a losing streak with one of the league's best offenses while also fielding one of the league's lowest ranking defenses, you may find yourself at a crossroads and having to answer questions about a divide in the locker room. This will provide your defense with the opportunity to step up and quell some of the frustrations in the locker room. But beware as another poor performance from the defense could send the whole team spiraling and looking for answers.
- Unstoppable Force: How do you stop the vaunted "Unstoppable Force?" That's what you'll be tasked with tackling when facing one of the league's best offenses coming off a strong performance in their previous game. Formulate a gameplan around creating constant pressure, stuffing the run, or creating turnovers and take that challenge into your game that week for the opportunity to provide your defense with a momentum boost moving forward.
- Weak Link: The Weak Link scenario fires when your team has made the playoffs despite fielding one of the league's worst defensive units. The media will question not only your ability to make a deep playoff run but also your ability to even win a playoff game. Similar to the Unstoppable Force scenario, you'll be tasked with how you need your defense to step up that week and based on the results of the game and their success, you have the opportunity to build momentum to help you make a Super Bowl run.
- Bye Week: We've updated our Bye Week scenario from text messages to modular cinematics with all new choices and impacts. During your bye week, you'll be asked how your team is handling the week off. You'll be posed with choices of taking a team bonding retreat to build team chemistry, self-scouting to identify weaknesses to correct coming out of the bye or continuing to grind through the week to help with the development of your players. Each choice comes with a different positive and negative effect and as the coach, it's on you to decide what your team needs and how to put them in the best position to succeed in the stretch run of the season.
- Goal Updates:
- Added Score 30 Points or More Head Coach Goal
- Added Hold Opponent to Under 17 Points Head Coach Goal
- Added Score 2 Offensive Touchdowns Offensive Coordinator Goal
- Added Score 21 Points or More Offensive Coordinator Goal
- Added Get 2 Turnovers Defensive Coordinator Goal
- Added Allow 275 Pass Yards or Less Defensive Coordinator Goal

MARCH 10, 2022 - PATCH NOTES:
MARCH 10, 2022 - PATCH NOTES:
- New Scenarios for Franchise
- Coach Adjustments added to Practice mode
- NFL Live Playbooks update
- Coach Adjustments and Coverage Depths have returned to Practice mode! You will now be able to use Coach Adjustments and Zone Coverage Adjustments in Practice Mode via RS/R3 click from the Play-Call Menu.
- DEV NOTE: When the play-call menu was re-designed in Madden 21 for the launch of Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, some of the functionality from the previous console generation was left behind. As you have told us, you’ve found these options very useful in practice, so the controls to use Coaching Adjustments in Practice have been brought over. Players can click the RS/R3 at any level in play-call to enter the Coach Adjustment menu. Once you back out of the menu, you will be returned to their previous spot in the play-call menu.
- Fixed an issue with the Gun Wing Slot Wk: RPO Power Alert Glance play allowing the QB to break-out of the handoff and scramble instead of handing off or passing.
- Fixed an issue allowing a ‘Playmaker Flip’ on the RPO Stretch play out of the Singleback Bunch TE formation.
- Removed the temporary modifier previously used on RPO Zone Peek plays that was allowing defenders to shed their blocks quicker. Block-sheds on this play are now back to using solely the ratings match-up, as the exploits leading to this modifier have been resolved.
- Fixed an issue with the handoff animation on the Gun Split Slot Open: Triple Option LT play, so that it will function the same as other Triple Option handoffs.
- Fixed an issue with the fifth-year option scenario that was causing it not to trigger in the offseason
- Fixed an issue with a 'Crisis in Confidence' scenario goal that would cause it not award Staff Points upon completion
- Added new Franchise Scenarios:
- DEV NOTE: This update will apply to both new and existing Franchise files, so no need to restart your Franchise.
- Trench Boost: The new Trench Boost scenario gives you a chance to help improve your entire offensive line by building off either a strong rushing or passing performance. The tier-based rewards will compensate you based on your success in the following game and give you the opportunity to immediately beef up your offensive front to either clear lanes for your running backs or keep your franchise quarterback's jersey clean.
- QB Duel: The QB Duel scenario starts during the regular season when two of the league's best signal-callers face off. As a coach, you'll be faced with the choice of calling on your own elite quarterback to have a huge game that leads you to victory or challenging your defense to step up to the plate and shut down one of the league's best signal-callers.
- Immovable Object: A mid-to-late season scenario where your match-up includes facing one of the league's staunchest defenses also known as the ominous "Immovable Object." Do you attack them and try to run right through the wall? Do you take to the skies and try to throw it over the wall? Or do you enter the arena with the attitude to win by any means necessary?
- Under Siege: After dealing with a barrage of sacks in the middle of the season, you'll be forced as a coach to place blame on either your offensive line for not holding up or your quarterback for not getting the ball out quick enough. Following that decision, you'll be tasked with how to approach the following game which can include staying the course, shifting to the run, or extra preparation heading into the game. Depending on your choice and success in the next game, your offense and offensive line can receive the boost they need to bounce back and right the ship.
- QB Breakouts: We've updated the QB breakouts with modular cinematics and similar to our other breakout scenarios, in the week following a standout performance by your quarterback, he'll be given a set of goals that he must accomplish to increase his DEV trait. These goals will scale by DEV trait meaning upgrading a player from Normal to Star will be easier than upgrading from Star to Superstar or Superstar to X-Factor. Already have an X-Factor QB and feel left out? Don't worry as you'll also have the potential to put up a huge day but rather than receiving a DEV trait upgrade, you'll be vying for the chance at a huge chunk of XP.

New Abilities
- Run-Off Elite - Players with this ability will distract defenders for longer with their runoffs
- DEV NOTE: Receiver Run-offs are when the receiver fakes as if he is running a pass route downfield. This is done to pull the defenders away from the LOS and give the ball carrier more room if he gets to the edge. Some Receivers are masters at pulling this off and making the defender feel like it is a real route he is running, that is what this Ability emulates.
- On The Ball - Players with this ability are much less likely to be fooled by WR runoffs.
- Precision Kicker - Kickers with this ability can see the entirety of the kicking arc
- Crusher - Defenders with this ability will cause heavy fatigue penalties when tackling a ball carrier with a hit-stick tackle.
- Demoralizer - Defenders with this ability will clear a ballcarrier's progress towards entering the zone with a hit-stick tackle.
- Mind Reader (X-Factor) - When activated, defenders can see offensive play art via coach cam.
- DEV NOTE: This powerful X-Factor Ability can only activate once the defensive player possessing the Ability gets in the zone by landing three successful Hit Sticks on Simulation or Arcade or five successful Hit Sticks on Competitive. You will be able to view your opponent’s play art when you bring up Coach Cam. To knock the player out of the zone, you will need to gain 30 yards on offense. This X-Factor will not be immediately available in Madden Ultimate Team, but it will be available in Franchise.
- Hook Zones:
- Fixed an issue causing the Mid-Read defender in Tampa 2 to drift the wrong direction vs. trips, leaving the TE open off the snap. This fix makes sure the Mid Read is opening with that vertical by #3 and carrying it better vertically downfield
- Curl-Flat Zones:
- Improved Curl Flat Zone logic so they would prioritize out breaking routes instead of shading under verticals. Also improved some logic so Curl Flats and Quarters Flats won't chuck out breaking routes that were causing them to give up any leverage they had to cover the sideline.
- Flat Zones:
- Improved Cloud Flat Zone logic to better carry vertical routes to protect the fade and improve their facing direction immediately following the chuck
- Fixed an issue so Cover 2 Sink soft-squat defenders could better shade receivers in the flat
- Fixed an issue preventing Hard-Flat defenders from covering Inside Receivers and Tight Ends in Bunch and Close formations running Flat Routes and the flat portion of wheel routes
- Man Coverage Alignment/Matchups:
- Improved Man Defender motion logic so man defenders will properly follow and align when their receiver motions across the formation when the AI team is using the CB Matchups
- We fixed an issue causing man-coverage assignments to incorrectly swap when the offense motioned a receiver across the formation.
- Fixed an issue with the Colts Home Field Advantage failing to show the Hat-Count visual that could be used as pass/run play-tell
- Tuning to the ‘Adrenaline’ M-Factor so instead of infinite stamina, it now reduces the rate of stamina drain.
- Fixed an issue causing a logo to appear over players heads instead of a question mark for specific M-Factors
- Fixed an issue sometimes causing the ‘Shook’ play-art to remain on the field after the snap
- Fixed an issue causing the WR Icons to stay visible after making a defensive adjustment
- Fixed an issue preventing the art from updating to the correct route after making a hot-route on the RB and then sending him in motion to the slot
- Fixed an issue preventing art from updating on Speed Option plays after flipping the play
- Fixed an issue causing the art to sometimes disappear on defense when hot-routing a defender to blitz while inside the tackle box
- Added scaling to Play-Art inside of The Yard when backed up into either end zone
- Tuning to QB Contain behavior so contain defenders will get more depth off the snap
- Tuning to open up disengage angles to allow contain defenders to anticipate better getting off blocks to more quickly react to QB’s dropping back too far behind the line of scrimmage
- Fixed a rare issue preventing a QB slide from being ruled down
- Fixed a rare issue that could allow a defender to warp off the ground from a diving tackle into a standing wrap tackle
- Fixed a blocking issue preventing the blocking RB from picking up an edge rusher vs. Nickel 3-3-5 Wide flipped
- Addressed an issue where QBs would be able to scramble deep in the offensive backfield at full speed until they found an angle to get around Pass Rushers.
- DEV NOTE: QBs will start to fatigue faster and slow down when trying to scramble 15+ yards behind the line of scrimmage. This reflects the realistic amount of effort and energy loss QB’s suffer in real life when scrambling so deep in the offensive backfield.
- Fixed an issue causing players sometimes to start the second half of the game extremely fatigued
- Fixed an issue causing the user-controlled player to get stuck running on touchbacks during kickoffs
- Fixed an issue causing sideline characters sometimes to warp or pop randomly
- Fixed issues around the Deadeye abilities triggering in the wrong situation. Inside Deadeye was not only triggering on passes to targets inside the numbers but targets outside the numbers as well

- DEV NOTE: On Competitive game style, it’s still possible for this logic to kick in if you are dropping 9 or more defenders into coverage vs. a running play with a heavy run set.
- Fixed an issue causing the DE to be unblocked too frequently vs. Nickel Double A Gap looks; with 5-man protections, the tackle and guard will sometimes still have to squeeze down to protect the A-gap, but this change will allow the DE to be blocked more regularly
- Addressed an issue where users running the RPO Zone Peek plays were able to easily scramble outside the pocket if they kept the ball with the QB. The defenders on the line will now play for the chance of the QB scrambling
